The Freedom Sports Foundation was created to break down barriers and challenge societal norms that limit access to sport for underprivileged individuals, especially children with disabilities.

Freedom Sports Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation committed to building inclusive, connected communities through the power of sport. We create meaningful opportunities for people living with disability by delivering engaging programs across Wheelchair AFL, Wheelchair Basketball, Para Volleyball, and All Abilities Golf.

Based in regional Victoria, our programs reach schools, communities, and workplaces across the state and beyond. We proudly partner with leading sporting bodies—including AFL Victoria, Basketball Victoria (via Geelong United), Volleyball Australia, and Golf Australia—to make sport accessible to everyone, regardless of ability.

Whether it’s through our school programs, corporate engagement days, or community events, our mission is clear: to break down barriers, celebrate ability, and inspire inclusion through participation and connection.

Founder Chris Henderson, a standout Essendon Football Club wheelchair Coach for 2025, has defied challenges since his Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis. As Captain and Coach of Victoria in national championships and an Australian Para Beach Volleyball representative, his journey is a testament to resilience, leadership, and sporting excellence.

Alongside a dedicated team of Victorian wheelchair footballers and basketballers, Chris champions inclusion and awareness, spearheading programs like Wheelchair Auskick and Wheelchair Basketball to inspire the next generation. The Freedom Sports Foundation is committed to ensuring equal access to sport, empowering individuals with disabilities to thrive both on and off the field.
